Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that scares most Kia owners the most. No physical key slot. The car needs to wirelessly detect a programmed fob before it will even wake up. When that fob is gone, the car feels bricked, but it isn't.
A skier at a resort overflow lot outside Thousand Oaks had a 2015 Kia Sedona with push-to-start and zero keys. He was an hour from town with spotty cell service. Everyone he'd asked said smart key AKL was dealer-only.
I drove out to the ski lot. Push-to-start AKL is more involved because the smart key module needs direct access and old key data cleared before new fobs register. I used my ACDP to back up the immobilizer data as a safety precaution, then ran AKL through OBD with my IM608. His smart key, FCC ID SY5YPFGE06, was a 6-button proximity fob. I held each new fob to the start button as the system counted down and registered them.
His car started at a ski resort overflow lot. Total was around 95. Dealer would have been 200 plus a long-distance tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent.
