Out near Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ventura, a guy had kayaked most of the morning and came back to the parking lot to find his only key gone. Somewhere between the launch ramp and the gravel lot, it slipped out of his shorts pocket. He retraced the whole path twice. Nothing.

I got there that afternoon. Started with my Lishi HY20 pick and decoder on the driver door lock, reading each wafer position to pull the exact bitting. Then I plugged into the OBD-II port, pulled the immobilizer PIN from the Smartra module, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure. Kia's AKL wipes every previously registered transponder so nothing lost out there can start his car.
Cut the new HY20 blank, seated the ID46 chip, programmed it to the immobilizer, and handed it over. He turned the key and the 3.8L V6 fired right up in the same lot where he'd been sitting for two hours thinking his day was done.
Lock decode to engine running, about 45 minutes. No tow truck, no waiting until Monday, and a fraction of what the dealer quoted him.
