I got a call from a fleet dispatcher at a quick-lube shop near the Newbury Park side of Thousand Oaks. He managed a couple of company vehicles and one of them, a 2019 Kia Sedona, had a fob that had been through it. The rubber button pad was separating, the housing was cracked along the seam, and someone had wrapped a strip of tape around the whole thing to keep it together. Functional, barely.

The housing had taken the abuse, not the electronics. I transferred everything into a fresh housing, confirmed the fob was still properly paired to the van using my diagnostic equipment, and handed it back to him.
Took maybe twenty minutes. He kept the programming that was already there, got a fob that didn't look like it had survived a construction site, and paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted for a full replacement. He asked if I could do the same for a second company car while I was already there. I could, and I did.
