I was out in the Thille/Montalvo area on a Tuesday afternoon for a 2004 Kia Sedona. The owner had snapped the key blade off right at the bow, the shoulder of the key, while trying to muscle a stiff ignition. Half the blade was stuck inside the cylinder. From there I decoded the remaining blade fragment, cut a fresh key on my mobile bench, and tested it in both the ignition and the door lock before I handed it over.
He asked if I needed to plug anything into the car. I told him no, this one is purely mechanical, you just need the right cut. He seemed almost disappointed, like he'd braced for something more complicated.
Dealer had quoted him a tow, a wait, and a price that made him wince. He got it handled in the driveway for a fraction of that.
