Out near Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks, a guy with a 2015 Kia Sedona had zero keys and a family trip falling apart. Push-to-start, all keys lost. The van just sat there doing nothing.
He had already called around. Two shops told him to tow it to the Kia dealer. The dealer told him two weeks for an appointment, parts on order, and the tow was on him. He found me while sitting on a bench near the trailhead parking area, searching his phone.
I drove out with the gear. The 2015 Sedona smart key system uses Kia's SMARTRA3 immobilizer tied to the BCM, so all-keys-lost means pulling the PIN, clearing old fob data, and running a full re-registration. I backed up the immobilizer data through my ACDP first, which is just habit and safety on any AKL job. Then I ran the procedure through OBD with my IM608. Each new SY5YPFGE06 fob got held to the start button during the timed countdown sequence while the system paired it.
Two new six-button proximity fobs, both cut with the emergency insert blade, both tested on every function: lock, unlock, left slide, right slide, liftgate, panic. He just kept opening and closing the sliding doors from across the lot like he was making sure it was real.
The whole thing took about 40 minutes. A fraction of what the dealer route would have cost, and no tow truck involved.
