The smart ECU sometimes needs to be accessed directly and old key data cleared before new fobs register. I used my ACDP to pull the EEPROM data as a backup, then ran AKL through OBD. His smart key, FCC ID , was a -button proximity fob.
His car started at a mountain cabin with no cell service and no tow access. Total was around 185. Dealer would have been 386 plus a long-distance tow. Smart key AKL on Lexus isn't dealer-dependent. It's tool-dependent.
