Got a call from the Riviera neighborhood in Santa Barbara on a Thursday evening. A woman was at a wine bar when someone lifted her clutch purse off the back of her chair. Keys, ID, cards, all of it. She borrowed a phone and called the police, then her husband, then me.
Her 2005 Lexus SC was sitting in the lot with zero keys. Her husband had already called the Lexus dealer. Their answer: tow the car in, four to five business days, full smart system reprogram. He hung up and she found my number.
I got there before dark. All-keys-lost after a theft is a different job than a normal replacement. The stolen HYQ12BBK has to be erased from the 89990-50091 smart key ECU so it is electronically dead to the car. I connected my IM608 to the OBD-II port, cleared the old key data from the immobilizer, and registered two fresh 4D-68 chip keys from scratch. Decoded the TOY48 sidebar lock, cut both emergency blades on site, and tested every function: remote lock, remote unlock, trunk release, ignition start.
Both fobs were working before the police even called back with a report number. She drove home that night.
The stolen key cannot start that SC now. It is just a piece of plastic in somebody's pocket.
