Got a call from a guy stuck at a business off Telephone Road in Ventura. He had a 2010 Lexus SC 430, push-to-start, and zero keys. His only fob had fallen out of his pocket somewhere between two stops that morning and he had already retraced the route twice.
No key slot on this car. No ignition barrel. The SC 430 needs to wirelessly detect a registered HYQ14AAB before the smart key ECU will even wake the engine computer. Without that fob, the car just sits there like a very expensive paperweight.
I pulled up, connected my Yanhua ACDP to the OBD port, and read the 93C66 EEPROM off the smart key ECU. Backed up the data first, always do. Then I ran the all-keys-lost procedure to wipe the old fob registration and programmed a new HYQ14AAB with a fresh emergency blade cut to his door code.
The part that took the longest was waiting for the immobilizer reset countdown. The car just needs its time. Meanwhile he stood there watching the dash, arms crossed, not saying a word. When the engine turned over he let out this long breath like he had been holding it the whole time.
He mentioned the Lexus dealer quoted him a tow plus a multi-day wait for a fob order. He drove home instead.
