I got a call from a woman in Westwood, near the apartment complex off Camino del Norte, who had already been through one locksmith before she found me. Her 2018 ILX was throwing a key-not-detected warning intermittently, but not every time. Some mornings it started without a second thought. I programmed a new fob with the correct transponder matched to her vehicle and swapped the CR2032 while I was at it, because the old battery was reading low and a marginal battery on an already-suspicious key is a bad combination. Then I walked every function: door handles, lock, unlock, trunk release, and start. Held at start for a full cycle, verified the dash cleared cleanly.
She asked me how she'd know if it would hold up this time. I told her if it was going to fail the way the last one did, it would show within the first few days. It didn't. That's the difference between the right part and an almost-right part.
