2014 Acura RLX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Winter Gardens, over near the community college lots in Lakeside, a guy reached me after buying a used 2014 RLX from a private seller. Good car. One key. The seller told him a spare would be easy to get.
He called the Acura dealer first. The number they gave him landed him back in the parking lot doing the math on a car he'd just stretched his budget to buy.
He found me, asked if that dealer quote was what everyone pays. I told him it was their standard rate and I come in well under that, because I'm one person in a van, not a dealership with a parts counter and a waiting room.
I met him between classes. The RLX uses a smart fob system, so adding a second key meant connecting to the vehicle's diagnostic port, reading the current key data, registering a new fob into the immobilizer memory, and cutting the emergency blade to match his door. No cloning shortcut on these, it's a proper enrollment. I walked him through the difference between what we were doing, an add-a-key with an existing working key present, versus what all-keys-lost looks like if he ever loses the one he had. That second option takes longer and costs more. He understood immediately why having two keys from day one was worth it.
He left with two working fobs, never missed a class, and paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted for a single spare.
