I was parked near the courts off Ocean View Hills when the call came in. Guy had a 2017 BMW 4 Series sitting in a lot, fob in hand, car not responding. He had already swapped the battery himself, which was the right instinct, but he used a generic no-name CR2032 from a convenience store and seated it crooked without realizing it.

He mentioned the dealer had already quoted him a full key replacement when he called them to ask about the range issue. That quote was sitting in his phone the whole time I was there. He didn't need it.
