1997 Buick Lesabre Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a boarding kennel lot near the Lake Poway Area, the kind with a packed gravel entry and a lot of SUVs coming and going.
A guy found me through my YouTube channel, which was honestly the whole reason he called instead of just heading to the dealer. He'd been on a Buick forum asking around for locksmith recommendations after his 1997 LeSabre fob started acting up, and someone dropped a link to one of my GM programming videos. He watched it, recognized the setup, and saved my number.
When I got there, it was a pretty relaxed situation. His ignition key still worked fine, which is how these older remotes go. The fob itself was the problem, intermittent response, sometimes nothing at all. The CR2032 had a little green creep on one of the terminals inside, which is common on a fob this age. Swapped the battery, cleaned the contacts. Still no love past about five feet.
That told me the fob's internals were done. At that mileage and age, it happens. I programmed a replacement 4-button remote to his vehicle on site, walked through every button, and range-tested it from the kennel gate before I packed up.
He mentioned the dealer wanted to send him somewhere else entirely because they don't stock remotes for that year anymore. I had it handled in the parking lot. Same person from the videos, same tools, no surprises.
