1997 Ford Crown Victoria
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How fast can you get to my location in Downtown Fallbrook?

We serve Downtown Fallbrook and the surrounding area in Fallbrook as a regular part of our route. Call us, confirm it's the 1997 Crown Victoria, and we load the right blanks and head out. Most calls in the area get a response within about 30 minutes depending on where exactly you are and traffic at the time. We treat every call as same-day. There's no scheduling a window for next week.

Q: Can I get a key made today?

Yes. The 1997 Crown Victoria takes a mechanical key, which means I carry what's needed on the truck. No parts to order, no waiting on a blank to ship, no two-trip process. You call, I come to you in Downtown Fallbrook, and you leave with a working key the same day. The dealer route often involves a tow, an appointment, and time you don't have. This isn't that.

Q: My Crown Vic key turns hard and feels like it's going to stick. Do I need a new ignition cylinder?

Not always. On a vehicle this age, the ignition wafer tumblers wear down over time, and a key that's been used for years can start feeling stiff, gritty, or like it wants to catch. Before assuming the cylinder is shot, have a fresh key cut. If the original is worn, any copy made from it carries the same wear into the new key.

Q: I bought a key blank online. Can you cut it to my Crown Vic?

Depends on whether the blank you bought is actually correct for that lock. The 1997 Crown Victoria takes a specific key blank profile, and there are blanks out there that look close but won't cut right or seat fully in the cylinder. If you bring me the blank and it's the right one, I can cut it. If it's not, I have the correct blank on the truck.

1997 Ford Crown Victoria Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy parked near the shops in Downtown Fallbrook. He had a 1997 Crown Victoria and his only key had snapped off in the door lock. Not bent, not worn. Snapped clean. Half of it was still sitting in the cylinder.

He'd already called the dealer. They told him the car would need to be towed in, and they weren't sure they even had anyone who could pull the broken key and cut a new one on the spot. He said the phrase "we'll have to look into it" came up more than once.

I drove out to him. Extracted the broken piece from the door lock, decoded the cut from the cylinder, and had a fresh key cut and working in both the door and the ignition inside of forty-five minutes. No tow. No appointment. He stayed with his car the whole time.

He mentioned he'd expected the whole thing to take the rest of his day. It didn't come close.

How long does a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria key replacement take?▼

On a 1997 Crown Vic, faster than you'd expect. This is a mechanical key, so there's no programming sequence, no security timer, and no waiting on a computer to talk to the car. Once I have the key code or decode the lock, cutting a replacement takes just a few minutes. Total on-site time is typically well under 30 minutes from the time I arrive. Lost all your keys?
