2008 Ford Crown Victoria
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2008 Ford Crown Victoria Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Bressi Ranch is one of those planned communities where everything looks tidy and the parking lots are wide and flat. Good place to work. A guy there called me after spending a morning convinced his Crown Vic had a starting problem.

He'd had a spare key cut at a hardware store kiosk months back. It looked right, slid into the ignition, turned fine. But the car wouldn't start. He'd been blaming the battery, then the starter, almost talked himself into a tow.

I asked him one question: where did you get that key cut. When he told me, I already knew what I was looking at. The blade was cut correctly. The transponder chip inside had never been programmed. The immobilizer was doing exactly what it was supposed to do, rejecting a key it had never seen.

I came out to his driveway in Bressi Ranch, brought a blank that could actually be programmed for his car, cut it to his lock, and enrolled it through the security system on site. His original working key was still on the ring, so we had what we needed. Car started on the first try.

He was a little quiet for a second, then said he'd been diagnosing the wrong thing for three days. The dealer had quoted him a tow plus a diagnostic fee before they'd even look at it. He paid a fraction of that, standing in his own driveway, and drove to work an hour later.
