2020 Jeep Renegade
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2020 Jeep Renegade Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Otay Mesa, near the Nestor side where the streets get quiet fast after the commercial strip, I got a call on a Saturday afternoon from a guy who had driven out to the overflow dirt lot near the campsite area the night before and lost his only key somewhere between the tent and his 2020 Jeep Renegade. He retraced every step twice. Nothing.

He had already called the dealer. They told him Monday at the earliest, and he would need a tow since he had no key to give them. That math did not work for him.

I told him I could be there that afternoon.

When I pulled up, his Renegade was sitting in the lot exactly where he left it, going nowhere. I worked the door without touching the paint, decoded the lock mechanically so the replacement key blade would be cut right the first time, and then connected through the OBD port to run the all-keys-lost sequence. On this vehicle, that process clears every key the system has ever known and rebuilds the list from zero. The old lost fob, gone from memory. New fob, registered as primary.

I cut him a second fob on the spot while I had everything open. Two keys out, both tested on doors and ignition, right there in the dirt.

He was driving home before dinner. The dealer route would have cost him a tow, a weekday, and significantly more money. He paid a fraction of that, and he left with a spare this time.
