Out in the Mission San Luis Rey Area, I got a call from a woman who had been using her 2021 Renegade as her daily driver for about a year with no issues. One morning she walked out, the fob did nothing, and the vehicle would not recognize it at all. She had already bought a fresh CR2032 from the drugstore and swapped it herself. Still nothing. Done in her driveway, before she would have even reached the service advisor's desk at the dealer. She saved a good chunk compared to the dealer route, and she did not lose her car for two days.
The dealer is the right call in a narrow set of situations. For the 2021 Renegade, most key jobs are not that situation.
