I got a call from a guy parked near the Mission San Luis Rey area in Oceanside. He had one key, it was working, and he wanted a spare made before he left on a road trip. Reasonable request. He had the 2015 Soul, smart key setup, and he told me upfront he had already bought a fob online because he thought he could save some money doing it himself. He couldn't.
