2023 Mazda CX-5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
De Luz sits out past the 76, back in the hills where avocado groves run along narrow roads that don't show up well on most maps. A farm manager out there texted me on a Saturday afternoon. His 2023 CX-5 was parked on a gravel access road between tree rows, and his smart key had gone dark. No response from any button, no door handle touch unlock, nothing.
He had found the emergency blade tucked in the fob and tried the door. It didn't work. A previous owner had used the power lock override and the manual keyhole on that door was effectively out of the picture. So he had a running-condition car, sitting on private agricultural land, twenty-something minutes from town, on a weekend.
He dropped me a GPS pin. I loaded up for a CX-5 smart key job and drove out.
When I got there the fob was completely dead -- not low, dead. The CR2025 had given out. I swapped the cell first, right there on the hood, and confirmed the electronics were still good. Then I got into the door the right way, without damaging anything, and once we had access I connected at the OBD port, backed up the immobilizer data, and registered the replacement key into the system. The whole job happened on that gravel road with avocado trees on both sides.
His CX-5 started clean. The dealer would have needed a flatbed to reach him, then an appointment slot, and none of that was happening on a Saturday. He saved a good chunk and was back on the property the same afternoon.
