2005 Nissan 350z Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call late on a Saturday night from Ramona Country Estates. A woman had been out earlier in the evening when her purse was taken, keys with it. By the time she reached me, she had already talked to the police and was standing next to her 2005 Nissan 350z in the valet lot with no way in and no way home.
Her roommate had called the dealer earlier. The dealer quoted parts plus programming plus a tow because they would not do the work in a parking lot, and said the earliest they could get to it was several business days out. The roommate told me the number and I told her I could be there that night.
All-keys-lost after a theft is its own kind of job. It is not the same as cutting a spare when you still have the original in hand. With no working key present, I have to go through the diagnostic port to access the immobilizer, wipe the entire key memory, and build the system back up from zero. That process takes longer and it is the only way to guarantee the stolen key is dead. It will not start that car again.
I got both new remote-head keys programmed and tested in the lot, cut the key blades to the car, and walked her through locking and unlocking from both fobs before I packed up. She drove home that night.
The dealer estimate was still sitting in her roommate's call history. What she paid me was a fraction of that, done on site, done the same night.
