2023 Nissan Kicks Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Fanita Ranch, I got a call from a woman who'd been dealing with a slow-rolling problem for about three weeks. Her 2023 Kicks would sometimes not recognize the fob when she walked up to the door. She'd stand there, pull the handle, nothing. Then try again, and it would work. She figured it was just a quirk, kept going.
Then one morning she walked out and the car just wouldn't acknowledge the fob at all. No door unlock, no response. She ended up fishing out the emergency blade from inside the fob, got into the car that way, and held the fob to the start button to get it running. She knew that backup trick, which told me she'd already been digging around online trying to figure out what was happening.
When I got there, I opened the fob on the hood and looked at the battery situation first. The CR2032 was actually fairly fresh, but one of the contact clips had a slight upward bow to it, which meant intermittent connection. That explained exactly why it would work sometimes and fail other times. I corrected the contact, seated the battery right, and the door handle response came back clean.
But because she'd had the issue for a few weeks and wanted peace of mind, we also ran through the full fob function test: both door handles, all four buttons, and confirmed the car was reading the fob at normal range from outside. Everything came back solid. She didn't need a new key cut or a programming session. Just the right diagnosis on site.
She mentioned she'd been quoted a new fob plus dealer programming before calling me. That was going to take a few days and cost considerably more. We were done in under thirty minutes, parked right in her neighborhood.
