1996 Pontiac Bonneville Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from someone over in Lomas Santa Fe, Solana Beach. Older Bonneville, sitting in the driveway. The remote had stopped working on her entirely -- she'd been manually locking and unlocking for a couple of weeks and finally got tired of it.
When I pulled up, she handed me the fob and I could tell right away it had been bouncing around in a purse for a long time. The battery cover was a little loose, the CR2032 inside was reading low, and one of the four buttons had a slightly sunken feel to it.
I swapped the battery and ran through all four buttons. Lock and unlock came back immediately. The trunk release responded. The panic button worked. That sunken button turned out to be cosmetic -- the contact underneath was still making a clean connection.
Then I walked the whole thing: confirmed the key blade was cut correctly to the vehicle, tested the lock cylinder on the driver door, popped the trunk with both the fob and the release inside. Everything operating the way it should.
She mentioned she'd called the dealer earlier in the week. They quoted her a wait and a price that made her put the phone down. We were done in her driveway in under half an hour, and she paid a fraction of what they'd quoted. She seemed more surprised by the speed than anything else.
