A vendor packing up after an event at the county fairgrounds near Nestor had his key snap inside the door lock of his 2019 Ram Promaster. The blade broke clean off from years of heavy use. Another locksmith told him the cylinder would need to be drilled. New lock, new keys, pushing $500.
I used my VVDI2 to read the transponder data from the broken Fobik head since the chip was still intact. Then I used my CY24 Lishi to extract the broken blade fragment without scratching the wafer surfaces. Once extracted, I decoded the lock and cut a fresh blade. His Fobik, FCC ID RX2TRF198, was a 3-button unit that I rebuilt into a fresh housing with the salvaged chip.
No drilling, no cylinder replacement. His total was $83. The other locksmith wanted $183 or more. Destructive entry should be a last resort.
