2009 Volkswagen EOS Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked on a side street in Old Escondido, one of those older residential blocks where the trees have grown over the sidewalk and there is barely room to open the van doors wide. The job was a spare key for a 2009 Volkswagen EOS. The owner had done her homework before calling.
She told me her last locksmith experience left her with a key that died in two weeks, no real receipt, and no way to reach anyone afterward. She had looked up my BSIS license number before she even dialed. That kind of call sets a tone, and I respect it.
The EOS is a retractable hardtop convertible, which means the fob sees real use. Owners are folding the top, locking the car outside, running the remote daily. By 15 years of age the original fob on these has some miles on it.
I pulled the replacement fob, confirmed the blade profile matched her locks, and cut it at the car. Then I connected through the OBD port and ran the VW key-learning sequence. The process requires the vehicle's security credentials, and the equipment I use handles that exchange the way the factory intended. Both keys enrolled, tested every button on both fobs, cycled the locks, and confirmed the car started on the new key.
She watched the whole thing from about four feet away. When it was done she said she wanted to see the receipt before I packed up. I handed it to her with the license number printed on it. That is how it should work every time.
The dealer had given her a number that made her wince. She paid a fraction of that, in her own neighborhood, without moving the car.
