2016 Volkswagen EOS Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Not every VW owner lives near a dealer. An organic farmer on his property outside Encinitas had a 2016 Volkswagen EOS that needed a new key. The nearest VW dealer was over an hour each way. Towing the car there and back would cost more than the key, and pulling his only vehicle off the property during planting season wasn't practical.
He called the dealer anyway. $436 plus getting the car there. He found me and asked if I'd drive out. I told him I would.
I worked on the car at his farmhouse. His VW uses an HU66 flip key with an ID48 transponder chip. I used my VVDI2 to read the PIN and component security code, then precoded the chip and programmed it through OBD. His flip key, FCC ID KR55WK45022, was a 3-button remote that I tested at the property. He seemed pretty impressed the whole thing could happen next to a tractor.
Two working keys before I left. Total was $217. The dealer route would have been $436 plus two hours of driving or a long tow bill. For rural VW owners, mobile is the only realistic option.
