Worst case on a 2014 Volvo S80 is an all-keys-lost where another locksmith attempted the job, couldn't read the CEM, and left the system in a fault state. Total was about two hours including the module removal and reinstall. His bill was $325. The alternative was a flatbed to the Volvo dealer, a possible CEM replacement at $593 or more, and a week without his car.
