A driver on the shoulder of a road outside Oxnard had his key snap in the ignition of his 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche. Half was stuck in the cylinder and half was in his hand. I used my B106 Lishi to extract the broken fragment without touching the wafer surfaces inside. Once it was out clean, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position for exact cut depths. His truck uses a transponder key, FCC ID , separate from the remote. I cut the new blade from the decode and programmed the transponder through OBD.
No drilling and no cylinder replacement. His total was 93. The other locksmith's plan would have been 199 or more with a new cylinder. His original lock works with the new key exactly like it worked with the old one.
