A customer at her apartment carport near Meditation Mount in Ojai had that exact version. Her only key to her 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche cracked right at the flip hinge and the blade snapped off inside the door lock. Half stuck in the cylinder, half in her hand. The housing was cracked open but the Megamos 48 chip was still intact, sitting in its little slot. I read the transponder data off it with my VVDI2, which meant I could skip the full all-keys-lost security relearn procedure. That PK3+ relearn on these trucks involves a timed cycle through the Body Control Module, part number 20939745 on most 2010 Avalanches, and it adds real time to the job. Skipping it was the win.
I extracted the blade fragment from the door lock, decoded the B111 sidebar cuts, and cut two fresh sidewinder keys. Rebuilt her OHT01060512 flip remote into a new shell with the salvaged chip and tested both keys through full ignition cycles and remote lock, unlock, and hatch.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 35 minutes. If you still have the broken key, bring every piece. The chip data inside a cracked fob is almost always salvageable, and it makes the job faster and cheaper.
