A mom in the East Ventura neighborhood flagged me down, basically. She called while standing in an elementary school parking lot with her 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, two kids in the back, and a remote that had gone through a full wash cycle. Lock and unlock confirmed on all doors, panic tested, done.
I told her to keep the washed one. If she ever cracks a case or needs buttons for a shell swap, it is a free parts donor sitting in a junk drawer.
She pulled out of that lot with everything working, kids buckled, and made her next stop on time. The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes on site.
