2010 Chevrolet Avalanche Transponder key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
People lose all their Chevy keys more often than you'd think. The most common story isn't dramatic. They bought the car used with one key, always planned to get a spare, and years later that one key finally gives out. The flip key shell cracks, the blade snaps in the door, or the fob goes through the wash.
A customer at her apartment carport in Ojai had exactly that story. Her only key to her 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche cracked at the hinge and the blade snapped off in the door lock. Half was stuck in the lock and the flip housing was in her hand. Zero working keys and a car she couldn't get into.
I used my VVDI2 to read the transponder data from the broken key's chip since it was still intact inside the cracked housing. That saved time because I didn't need a full all-keys-lost procedure. I extracted the blade fragment from the door lock, decoded the cylinder, and cut two fresh keys. Her fob, FCC ID , was a -button flip key that I rebuilt into a new shell with the salvaged chip. I showed her the chip from the cracked key so she could see it was still good.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 35 minutes. Total was around 85. A full AKL without the broken pieces would have cost more, and the dealer wanted 186 either way. If you still have the broken key, bring it. The chip data inside a cracked fob is usually salvageable, which makes the job faster and cheaper.

Emergency saves, grateful customers
“My car keys were stolen on a cold evening and Nick drove all the way out to Santa Barbara. He got into my car, made a new key, and charged $100 less than another company. Friendly, skilled, trustworthy, and genuinely caring. Nick is a hero.”
“Very professional and extremely affordable. The price was literally about three times cheaper than what my dealership quoted me. Fast service and no stress at all. Highly recommend.”
“Tim is a hero. He programmed a master proximity key for a newer Volkswagen that multiple locksmiths refused to touch. He spent hours until late at night making sure every function worked perfectly. The skill level here is incredible.”
