Your 2007 Infiniti Qx56 uses a remote head key with 4 buttons on the face, a CR1616 battery inside powering the wireless communication, and a high-security emergency blade tucked inside the fob body. That blade slides out when the fob battery dies and you need to physically open the door. There's also a transponder chip that talks to the IMMO module every time you press start.

An Airbnb host at her beach house near Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden had a Qx56 with a cracked smart key shell. The seam had split along the edge and the buttons were getting unreliable. She took it to the Infiniti dealer and they told her the only fix was a complete new fob, cut and programmed, for 395. What they didn't mention is that the chip and circuit board inside were perfectly fine. She just needed a new shell.
