2004 Infiniti Qx56
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2004 Infiniti Qx56 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from someone over in the Presidio neighborhood of Santa Barbara. She had bought a 2004 Infiniti QX56 used, came with one key, and the salesperson told her to grab a spare when she got around to it.

She never did. A couple of years later the fob cracked along the seam and moisture worked its way in. The remote functions were gone, and she was not sure whether the key would still start the car at all.

She had kept the cracked fob, which mattered more than she knew.

I met her in the Presidio and checked the broken housing first. The internal chip was still intact, which meant I could work with what was there rather than treating it as an all-keys-lost situation. I opened the shell carefully on the hood of my van so she could see exactly what was going on inside.

From there I built two new fobs, transferred what I needed from the original, cut both blades to her vehicle, and tested every button and every start cycle on both keys before I called it done. She watched the whole thing.

She went from one cracked, barely-functional key to two working units in about 40 minutes, parked in her own neighborhood. The dealer quote she had looked up beforehand was considerably higher and would have meant leaving the car and waiting days. That part barely came up. The job spoke for itself.
