2007 Infiniti Qx56
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2007 Infiniti Qx56 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked in a driveway off Las Positas on a Tuesday morning, a pretty standard QX56 call on the surface.

The owner was renting the place short-term and using the SUV for beach runs. The fob shell had cracked right along the top seam, the kind of split that starts small and then one day the whole face of the key is flopping loose. She told me two of the four buttons had stopped registering reliably and the remote range had dropped off. She figured she needed a whole new key made from scratch.

I asked if she had the original fob with her. She did. I popped it open on the hood of the QX56 and the circuit board was clean, no corrosion, no broken solder points, contacts looked fine. The factory fob ID matched what I had on file for this vehicle. The only thing actually broken was the plastic housing.

I transferred the board and the blade into a fresh shell, seated the CR1616 correctly, and snapped it together. Then I walked every button, checked the range from the end of the driveway, and had her try the ignition. Started on the first turn. Every button responded.

She had already called the Infiniti dealer before reaching out to me. They told her to bring the vehicle in and quoted her a full replacement fob, cut and programmed, plus the wait for the part to be ordered. She was looking at days without her key. I was done in about twenty minutes, in her driveway, for a fraction of what they wanted.

The board inside was never the problem. She just needed someone willing to actually look before replacing everything.
