Ran every button, tested the door handle touch points on both sides, confirmed the start system saw the fob from the center console and not just when it was pressed against the dash. It came back completely.
Total time at the car was about 35 minutes. The dealer would have needed the vehicle towed in and likely a day in the service queue. She mentioned the tow estimate alone was more than what she paid me for everything.
