He was at a craft brewery in Downtown Chula Vista when he realized his jacket was gone from the back of his chair. Keys, wallet, phone. He borrowed the bartender's phone, called the police, then his wife, then me.
His 1999 BMW Z3 was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The stolen key is dead now. Once the immobilizer memory is wiped, that key cannot start the car. It is just a piece of cut metal with a broken-in chip that talks to nothing.
