2010 Buick Enclave Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman over in Bressi Ranch, the neighborhood off Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad. She had a 2010 Buick Enclave and had been down to one key for about a year.
She knew she should have a spare and kept putting it off. Then she came out of a shopping trip and the key wouldn't turn the ignition cleanly. It was binding, not the immobilizer, just wear on the ignition cylinder from years of a heavy keychain. She was rattled, thought the whole system was failing.
I got there and checked the key first. The blade was worn enough that it was fighting the ignition wafers. The transponder chip was reading fine on my programmer, so the immobilizer side was not the problem. She needed a new key cut from code, not a diagnosis of anything complicated.
I pulled the key code, cut a fresh key blade, enrolled the new transponder, and verified it cycled the ignition cleanly. Then I walked her through the onboard procedure to register a second spare while we still had two good working keys in hand. She left with two programmed keys instead of one worn one.
The dealer had quoted her a couple of days out and a price she described as "not small." She said afterward that she wished she hadn't waited a year to do it.
