2019 Cadillac XT4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in Coronado Shores on a Tuesday afternoon. He had just gotten off a flight, walked to the valet at the pickup area, and his 2019 Cadillac XT4 would not respond to anything. Fob was dead. Doors locked. Luggage in the trunk. Dealer could see him Thursday.
He was calm about it, which I respected, but I could tell two days of waiting was not something he had time for. I told him I could be there in under an hour and that I would diagnose it on site before quoting him anything.
When I got there, the fob battery had given out completely, so the normal passive entry and start were both down. I got the door open using the mechanical key blade tucked inside the fob, then connected my scan tool to pull the vehicle's current fob registration status. The existing fob was still enrolled in the system. No corruption, no lost pairing. The only issue was a communication fault that had logged when the battery dropped out mid-session, which can happen when a CR2032 dies during an active key event rather than while the car is sitting untouched.
Fresh battery in the fob, contact points cleaned, fault cleared through the diagnostic port, and then a full function check: passive lock, passive unlock, start authorization, and the backup fob-to-button start just to confirm that path was clean too.
He drove out the same afternoon. The dealer comparison barely came up. He just seemed glad someone showed up when they said they would.
