2014 Cadillac XTS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A Bressi Ranch couple was at dinner in Carlsbad celebrating their anniversary when it went sideways. His jacket went missing from the coat check. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. He borrowed the host's phone to call the police. His wife called me from hers.
The 2014 XTS was sitting in the parking lot with zero working keys. She had already called the Cadillac dealer. They told her the car would need to be towed in, they couldn't get to it for several business days, and because a fob was stolen, they were recommending a full key memory wipe and two new fobs. The estimate she described was not small.
I got there within the hour.
All-keys-lost after a theft is a different job than just adding a spare. The priority is making the stolen fob useless to the car. That means clearing the entire key memory first so the old fob can no longer trigger the locks or authorize a start through the vehicle security system. Then you register new fobs from scratch. I used my diagnostic equipment to access the body control module, wiped the existing key data, and enrolled two new fobs. Cut the emergency blade to match the vehicle. Tested every function on both fobs before I closed the case.
He drove home that night. The stolen fob is dead to the car. The dealer would have had him towing it, waiting days, and paying considerably more for the same result. He didn't have to leave the parking lot.
