I got a call from a fleet van driver who works out of an oil change shop in Downtown Fallbrook. His company runs a 2023 Chrysler 300 as a management vehicle, and a previous locksmith had already been at it.
The story came out in pieces while I was driving over. I cleared the existing key data and ran a full programming sequence, transponder and remote together, the way it is supposed to go.
All five buttons came back. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the remote start function the car was built with. I walked every button in the parking lot before I packed up.
His comment at the end was something like: I should have just called you first. The dealer quote he had gotten afterward, before finding me, would have cost him considerably more than what I charged. The previous scam locksmith had charged more than both of us and still left the job half done.
