I decoded the lock, cut both blades on site, and had everything working before her roommate pulled into the lot.

She drove home that night. The stolen key can still physically enter the door lock cylinder, but the immobilizer will not allow the engine to start with it. Two fresh keys, old one dead to the car.

The dealer's estimate and multi-day wait were what they were. She paid a fraction of that, on site, same night.
