Out in Scripps Ranch, I got a call from a guy standing in a parking lot off Scripps Ranch Boulevard. He had a 2005 Chrysler Sebring sedan and one key, and that key was somewhere he couldn't get to. I picked the door open mechanically and decoded the cuts from the lock. From there I cut a new key blank to match and moved on to the part that actually matters with these: programming the transponder chip so the immobilizer accepts it. I connected through the OBD port, pulled the security PIN from the vehicle's immobilizer module, and ran the registration sequence. The new key went in, the engine turned over, and it held. No stall, no warning light, no drama.
He asked if I could cut him a second key while I was there. I did. Two working keys, both programmed, both tested. He drove off without needing a tow, without waiting three days for a dealer appointment, and for a fraction of what the dealer would have quoted him. The whole stop was under 45 minutes.
