2003 Chrysler Sebring Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the RB Town Center when the call came in. A guy had snapped his key in the door lock of his 2003 Chrysler Sebring. Clean break, half the blade still inside the cylinder.
The first locksmith he called told him the cylinder was done. Drill it out, replace the whole lock, new keys, new everything. He did not like that answer and found me instead.
I used a Lishi pick and extractor tool to pull the broken fragment out without touching the wafer surfaces inside. Lock decoders like that tool let you read each wafer position once the cylinder is accessible, so I got the exact cut depths right off the lock. No guessing. Cut the new key from the decode on my van.
Then the part that actually makes the car run: that blank carries a transponder chip, and the 2003 Sebring immobilizer has to recognize it before the engine stays running. I pulled the SKIM PIN through the OBD port and used it to register the new key. Took about ten minutes once I had the pin.
He had a working key and a cylinder that looked exactly the way it did before I got there. No drilling. The other guy's plan would have cost him a lot more. He paid a fraction of that.
