2015 Ford Fusion
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

Scam locksmiths are a documented problem in the mobile key space, and Ford owners get hit with it regularly. The pattern is always the same: someone calls a number off a search ad, no price is confirmed upfront, the job gets done, and then a wildly inflated number appears with zero recourse because the company is untraceable.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. The replacement fob gets enrolled to your specific vehicle through the immobilizer so the car recognizes it as a legitimate key, not just a remote. Every function gets tested on site before I leave. The reason this matters: a lot of aftermarket fobs sold online will operate the door locks but the vehicle won't start because the fob was never properly registered to the immobilizer. That's a known complaint in the Fusion owner forums.

Q: I have a spare key that used to work, but now the car doesn't always recognize it. The main fob is fine. What's going on?

This one comes up a lot with the 2015 Fusion. The vehicle stores a limited number of registered keys, and if there have been any key replacements in the car's history, a previously programmed fob can sometimes behave inconsistently. The other common cause is a weak or intermittent battery in the spare fob.

Q: All my keys are lost. Can you make a new key for my 2015 Fusion on the spot, or do I have to tow it to the dealer?

No tow needed. All-keys-lost on a 2015 Fusion is a job I handle on site in Oceanside. It takes longer than a simple spare key add because the process involves clearing the existing key memory and enrolling the new fob fresh. There's a timed sequence built into the procedure that you just have to let run. Plan for roughly 45 to 60 minutes.

2015 Ford Fusion Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A couple came out of a movie near Fire Mountain on a Friday night and their 2015 Fusion just sat there. Push the button, nothing.

The dash threw a key-not-detected warning and that was it. Neither of them knew about the backup start procedure, and they figured the car was spending the night in the lot. They called me mostly just to ask if anything could realistically be done at that hour.

I was 15 minutes out and already had everything for this fob in the van.

When I got there, the fob had two dead CR2025 cells. Both of them. The car was reading zero signal, which is why it locked up completely instead of just showing reduced range. I swapped both cells, walked them through the backup start method against the button housing so they'd know it for next time, and then tested every function on the fob before I closed anything up.

Passive entry, lock, unlock, all of it came back clean. First press.

The relief on their faces was mostly about not sleeping in Fire Mountain. The dealer comparison barely came up. They drove home that night for a fraction of what a Monday dealer appointment would have run them, and that Monday visit would not have been necessary at all.

When the van is stocked right, a 9pm Friday call is no different from a Tuesday morning.
