She was at a restaurant in Downtown La Mesa and her purse was gone. Grabbed right off the back of her chair while she was eating. Car keys, house keys, wallet, phone. She borrowed the hostess's phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me.
Her 2019 Ford Fusion was sitting in the lot with zero keys to its name. Her husband had already called the dealer. They wanted the car towed in, said the job would take three to five business days, and quoted a number that made him go quiet for a second before he repeated it back to confirm.

It can still physically enter the door lock, but the immobilizer will not let the engine run.
I used my diagnostic equipment to access the security system, cleared the old key data, and programmed two new fobs. Then I decoded the lock and cut the emergency insert blade for each one. She was testing both fobs in the parking lot before she finished the police report.
The dealer comparison came up once, casually, when her husband mentioned the tow and the wait. She did not need to be sold anything at that point. She was already holding her keys.
