A guy in Downtown La Mesa called me about his 1997 Windstar. He was parked on the second level of an underground garage, low ceiling, tight spiral ramp, and no flatbed was getting in there. I parked on the street, walked down with my bag, and decoded the lock on site. Cut the blade to match, tested it in the door and then the ignition. Turned right over.
The whole thing took about twenty minutes. He drove himself out of that garage on a key made in the same building where his van was stuck. The dealer route would have required a tow that physically could not happen. He saved a good chunk, and honestly the harder part of the job was finding parking on the street above.
