De Luz sits far enough outside of town that most mobile service calls out there come with a little uncertainty. Long private roads, no cell signal for stretches, and when someone calls me from that area about a G80 with no working key, I mentally add buffer time before I even load the van.
She had one fob left, and it was intermittent. Some mornings the G80 would see it, some mornings she was standing in the driveway cycling through the routine: battery out, battery in, hold it against the start button. The original fob, the weak one, I re-registered at the same time. Both keys back in the system, both working, confirmed on site.
She mentioned she had called the dealer first. They quoted her a wait for an appointment, then parts on order, then come back. The whole thing was going to take over a week. I was done in under an hour in her driveway, and she saved a good chunk over what they wanted.
