2024 Genesis G80 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Down near the Seacoast end of Imperial Beach, a catering company owner called me from a private event venue after a long evening shift.
He was breaking down tables, his crew was loading the van, and his 2024 Genesis G80 was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The fob had gone missing sometime during the event. Two of his staff told him all-keys-lost on a luxury push-to-start was strictly dealer territory.
I drove out.
The G80 has no visible ignition cylinder. No slot on the column, nothing to fall back on. When every fob is gone, the car won't power on at all because it needs to wirelessly detect a fob already enrolled in its immobilizer before it does anything. That blank look the car gives you is not a dead battery. It's the security system doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
All-keys-lost on this platform is more involved than a standard add-a-key job. The immobilizer memory has to be fully cleared before new fobs can register, and getting that access on a current-generation Genesis requires proper diagnostic tooling through the OBD port. I read the immobilizer data as a backup first, then ran the all-keys-lost procedure and enrolled a fresh fob.
His G80 started in the venue lot before the last tray was loaded.
He asked what the dealer would have quoted. I told him to call and find out, but that he would have needed a tow on top of it. The point is not the price comparison. The point is that the car was running that night, on site, without a flatbed.
