2025 Honda Prologue Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the water in Bayside, wrapping up some notes, when the call came in. A mom at a daycare pickup spot in Imperial Beach.
Her only fob for the 2025 Honda Prologue had gone through the washing machine. Full cycle. She had her kid with her, two hours until bedtime, and the dealer had already told her Friday was the earliest they could see her. It was Wednesday afternoon.
The Prologue sits in an interesting spot for key work. Honda name on the door, GM platform underneath, and the fob reflects that split identity. I confirmed the fob type against the factory FCC ID on her damaged unit before I drove over, because the programming path on this vehicle is not what most people expect from a Honda. Wrong assumption going in wastes everyone's time.
I pulled up to the lot, connected to the OBD port, and walked through the immobilizer enrollment on the new fob. The vehicle security system on these requires diagnostic equipment to register a new remote. No shortcut, no button trick. But with the right tool and the confirmed procedure, it moved without drama. New fob learned, tested all five buttons, confirmed the vehicle responded correctly. Total time on site was under 30 minutes.
I told her to hold onto the washed fob shell in case she ever needed it for parts down the road. She was out of that lot with a working key and made it home before bedtime. The dealer comparison barely came up. She just needed it handled that day, and it was.
