A driver on the highway shoulder outside Escondido had his key snap in the ignition of his 2010 Hyundai Azera. Half the blade was stuck in the cylinder and half was between his fingers. He called another locksmith first, and that locksmith quoted him for a full ignition replacement over the phone. New cylinder, new keys, over $400. He called me for a second opinion.
I used my HY14 Lishi to extract the broken fragment without touching the wafer surfaces inside. Once it was out clean, I decoded the lock from the wafer readings, cut a fresh blade, and programmed the transponder through OBD. His flip key, FCC ID , was a 3-button remote. The fob was fine; he just needed the new blade and chip.
No drilling, no cylinder swap, no new ignition assembly. Total was $123. The other locksmith's approach would have been $293 or more. His original lock works with the new key exactly as before.
