2015 Jaguar F-Type
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Jaguar F-Type Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in San Ysidro, right in the Border Area, who had already been burned once before I picked up the phone.

He owned a 2015 Jaguar F-Type and had called one of those bait-and-switch locksmith ads that flood the search results when you type "car key near me." The quote on the phone was low. The guy who showed up had a generic fob and something that looked like a programmer but produced nothing useful. The key physically fit the dash switch. The car rejected it completely. He paid a lot of money for a fob with no data written to it, and the car never started.

He found me through Google Guaranteed and asked straight up how he could verify I was licensed. I gave him my BSIS license number on the phone and told him to check it on the state website while we were talking. He did. That set the tone for the whole job.

When I got to him, I did a full diagnostic first. The immobilizer confirmed the bad fob had never been enrolled. I used professional JLR-capable equipment to register a new key to the car. All five buttons functional, push-to-start working clean. Then I walked him through where the emergency blade lives inside the fob and showed him the door handle keyhole cover, because he had never used it and did not know it was there.

He asked what the dealer would have charged. I told him to call and find out. He said he already knew it was way more, and that was enough for him.

The first locksmith visit cost him money and left him with a useless fob. This one left him with a working car and a little more knowledge about it than he had before.
