I got a call from a woman in Richland on a Tuesday morning. She was parked near her home after getting back from a weekend trip and had been dealing with a dead smart fob the whole drive back. The fob went into a new housing with a fresh battery, blade seated correctly, and the whole unit programmed back through the diagnostic port to confirm it was properly paired to the vehicle.
She tested every function while I was still there. Touch unlock on both doors, all five buttons, start. Everything came back.
No drilling. No cylinder replacement. The lock looks exactly the way it did before. She mentioned the first locksmith's number again at the end, almost like she still couldn't believe the difference. I just told her destructive entry on a Jaguar should be the absolute last option, not the first call.
